Manage Your Work-at-Home Days Better

My step-sister’s husband, Barry, gave me some of the best business advice I have ever come across when it comes to staying in control of my work day. We were talking about the necessity of keeping control of the flow of work when you work from home. Sometimes it feels like my tasks are controlling me. I wanted to change that, and Barry gave me this simple advice:

He said, “Before you answer your phone or check e-mails, do the three most important things on your list for the day. Get them out of the way and you know you are completing things on time. Then you can begin wading through all the interactions that are necessary but can lead you off on other trails.”

Now, when I use his approach, I actually feel better and more energetic throughout the day, as well as get things done more effectively.
